Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is a program for training lay persons to provide one-to-one confidential, Christ centered care to people in the congregation who may be experiencing stress due to serious illness, death, loss of job, divorce, new baby etc. Extending the care giving capacity of the congregation to more people than the priest can handle it COMPLEMENTS, never replaces the priest’s care.
Any person, who has the interest and commitment, walks with the receiver, listening, caring (not counseling), supporting and praying with him/her. The program requires 50 hours of weekly training, bi-weekly peer supervision and a willingness to meet with the care receiver one hour a week.
