Second Saturday Service Knitting
A drop-in knit and crochet guild and ministry
Second Saturday Service Knitting, or SSSK for short, meets monthly as a drop-in service knitting (and crocheting) group in support of the Seamen's Church Institute (SCI). Join us on the second Saturday of each month, 10am to 11am, in the Parish Hall. All are welcome! For the novice and experienced crafter alike, SSSK is a lively gathering of service-oriented knitters and crocheters wanting to serve and create in community. The completed projects are stored as they are created, and then donated to SCI for their "Christmas at Sea" holiday offerings of hand-made gifts for international seafarers. Download an SCI knit/crochet pattern here, and serve, socialize and stretch with us!
On a hot summer July day, SSSK hosted the Community Tent at the Swarthmore Farmer's Market to spread the news about SSSK and invite others to join us. We displayed our service projects, sold hand-made"fresh veggies" for donation to SCI, and collected yarn for recycling through Philadelphia FabScrap. It was a great day!
