Second Saturday Service Knitting
A drop-in knit and crochet guild and ministry
Second Saturday Service Knitting, or SSSK for short, meets monthly as a drop-in service knit and crochet guild and ministry in support of the Seamen's Church Institute (SCI) "Christmas at Sea" program, and other organizations needing hand-made items. Join us on the second Saturday of each month, 10am to 11am, in the Parish Hall. All are welcome! In collaboration with Roots Knitting Academy, www.rootsknitting.com, various knit and crochet techniques and instructions are offered, free of charge, to include basic beginner knit and crochet instruction for those who want to learn. SSSK is a lively gathering of service-oriented knitters and crocheters of varying experience, from novice to expert, wanting to serve and create in community. The completed projects are stored as they are created, and then donated to SCI and other organizations in need. Download an SCI knit/crochet pattern here, and serve, socialize and stretch with us!

On a hot summer July day, SSSK hosted the Community Tent at the Swarthmore Farmer's Market to spread the news about SSSK and invite others to join us. We displayed our service projects, sold hand-made"fresh veggies" for donation to SCI, and collected yarn for recycling through Philadelphia FabScrap. It was a great day!
