LENT 2021

Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a 40-day season of reflection and preparation for Easter.  More than for somber reflection, Lent is traditionally a time of preparation to enter or re-enter into the mysteries of the resurrection and Easter Joy.   Trinity offers several ways to deepen your Lenten discipline, through Study, Service, Sharing, Saving and the Saints.  Let's get ready to receive the amazing, joyful news of Easter!

STUDY:  Sundays at 11:15am by zoom

Picture
Lenten Sunday Adult Forum Series based on Amy-Jill Levine’s Entering the Passion of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week.  For six Sundays, 1st Lent (February 21) through Palm Sunday (March 28), by zoom at 11:15am, we will watch and discuss a short video narrated by Amy-Jill Levine, Professor of New Testament studies at Vanderbilt Univ. Divinity School, and amplified by material from her book.  Deemed by our Rev. Bill North a “crackerjack lecturer,” Prof. Levine will help us journey through Lent as preparation for Easter. Discussion facilitated by our rector, the Rev. Dr. Ted Thompson.  Buy the book for individual self-study and/or just show up on Sundays to watch a video and discuss.

SAVE:  Origami Masu Boxes

As part of our Lenten Kits for children, we included a printable Origami Masu box. Print on 8.5x11 paper for a small coin box or 11x17 paper for a larger box. Hide your Alleluia during Lent and save up money to donate to your favorite cause.
On Easter, turn the box inside out to unhide the Alleluia, celebrate, and donate what you've saved!
Download the Masu box and instructions.

SERVE:  A Lenten Service Project

Picture
In honor of National Women’s History Month in March and as a Lenten service project, please join us in collecting monetary donations to purchase women’s feminine hygiene products for St. Mary’s Food Cupboard and IHN/Family Promise. There is an astonishing lack of feminine hygiene products for people who are homeless or low income. SNAP and other welfare programs do not cover these necessary products. Each month, this leaves countless people without the products many of us take for granted. Due to COVID-19 restrictions we cannot collect individual purchases at this time, but your generosity in making a monetary donation would be greatly appreciated. Donations will be accepted through March 31st.  Click the Donate button above and select Outreach at the “Use this donation for” prompt. Thank you for your support.
