In Advent…
Quiet Wednesdays, Dec. 5, 12 & 19
+ Morning Prayer, 8am (30 minutes) – Fr. Ted will lead Morning Prayer, inviting others to take part.
+ Open Church, 8:30am-12 noon– Following Morning Prayer, the Sanctuary will remain open for private devotions, with materials provided.
+ Holy Eucharist, 12 noon(45 minutes) – The usual 9:30am Wednesday service will be moved to 12 noon, to make it available during this Advent season to people on their lunch hour as well as making space for Morning Prayer and quiet devotional time.
+ Evening Yoga in the Sanctuary, 5:30 - 6:30pm– Join us on Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary for Advent yoga, led by Mary Thompson, a certified yoga instructor. We will slow down and intentionally pause in community to connect body, mind and spirit in this season of waiting. No experience necessary, all are invited. Bring a friend, your yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing for gentle movement and meditation.
Sunday Adult Forum, Dec. 2, 9, 16, and 23
+ Contemplative Discussion of Sunday’s scriptures, 10:10 am – The Adult Forum in Advent will be organized as a Contemplative Prayer and Discussion of the day’s lectionary texts, the readings appointed for worship that day. Fr. Ted will lead, assisted by Fr. Bill North. 10:10am in the Cleaves Room.
An Evening Service of Lessons and Music, Dec. 16
+ Service of Lessons and Music, 7:30pm– An opportunity to prepare for the Christmas season through a reflection on the inbreaking of God's Kingdom through scripture and song. Music includes congregational hymns and choral meditations. Childcare will be provided and a reception will follow the service.
Greening the Church and Christmas Carols, Dec. 23
+ Greening the sanctuary, 4pm– Come and help prepare for Christmas with this festive activity, which involves setting up the Christmas tree and aisle lights, decorating window spaces with greens, and more.
+ Christmas Caroling will follow, beginning in the sanctuary, going round the block, and ending with supper at the Rectory, hosted by Fr. Ted and Mary!
In Christmastide…
Christmas Eve
+ 5pm Christmas Eve service, with Christmas Pageant– This year, the Pageant will be offered as part of the 5pm Christmas Eve Service, with musical offerings of Christmas favorites. Come early to get a seat, and come ready to sing, pray, worship, and enjoy!
+ 10:30pm Christmas Concert– Musical and poetic meditations on the Nativity
+ 11pm Choral Eucharist– The traditional “Midnight Mass,” with festive lights and choir
Christmas Day
+ 10am Holy Eucharist only– with Christmas hymns and a short homily
1st Sunday of Christmas, Dec. 30
+ Regular schedule of services, 8, 9:15 and 11am– The 11am choir will take a well-deserved break from singing from the choir stalls. Join with members of the choir in singing from the pews!
The Feast of the Epiphany, Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019
+ Regular schedule of services, 8, 9:15, and 11am– This Feast, which concludes Christmastide, features the story of the Magi, or Three Wise Men.
+ Festive fellowship for kids and adults, 10am– A special Epiphany cake with a surprise will be on offer for children between the 9:15 and 11am services.
